In September 2023 at Fury Road in Bury St Edmunds, Brad O'Brien became the latest in a long line to win the Go 4 Glory briefcase. He defeated Sunset Skip in controversial circumstances to take the prize, although this opportunity came about by complete chance as O'Brien was not one of the original competitors fighting for the glory this year. First of all, for those who do not know, the Go 4 Glory briefcase entitles the holder to any championship match of their choosing, and at anytime. It holds great power and over the years there have been many champions crowned after cashing the briefcase in for a shot at a championship - often unexpectedly.
So I mentioned that Brad O'Brien was not in the original match for the briefcase, and this is true, he was out injured at the time. The Go 4 Glory match took place on the 24th June in Bury St Edmunds and the fatal four way match featured Danny Darko, Sunset Skip, Rexx Wylde and Garzya. Sunset Skip won the match and therefore took the briefcase meaning he could gain any championship match of his choosing. After a couple of months of mulling over his options he made a big decision. Whilst there is no doubt many people thought Sunset Skip would want the DOA Heavyweight Championship, he wanted something more personal to him, something that means a lot. He wanted back his prized Pan Arabian championship - the belt that was stolen from him last year by Brad O'Brien and renamed the Social Media Championship. Skip wanted back what was rightfully his and therefore he felt he had a golden opportunity by cashing in the Go 4 Glory briefcase to get it. There was just one problem though. The then Director of Authority Marc Lloyd had to inform Sunset Skip that the Social Media championship is not an official DOA championship meaning the Go 4 Glory briefcase could not be used. This news played right in to the hands of the devious Brad O'Brien who stated that the only way he would defend the belt against Skip again would be if Skip put the briefcase on the line. Skip without hesitation agreed to the match and therefore in an unforeseen move, O'Brien despite not being in the Go 4 Glory match had the chance to be the holder of the briefcase. In the match, the usual Farrell Family antics followed, O'Brien won and the rest as they say is history. To date, Brad has not yet even made any hints as to when he will cash in the briefcase (sorry he has named it the beefcase now) or when. So lets just take a little look at the possible options he has now and what is the most probable scenario. DOA Heavyweight Championship This is the obvious one isn't it? I mean, who would not want to become the DOA Heavyweight champion - the biggest prize in the company? It may be the most obvious but it is not the one everyone has gone for historically. A lot of thinking is required when making such a big decision and Brad needs to look closely at who he would be crossing paths with if he went for this belt. Big Joe is the current champion - a man who has just won the tournament of death, the man is a beast, he is far bigger and more powerful than O'Brien, so would it be wise to pick a fight with him? Brett Semtex is next in line to face Big Joe in December in a match where he could become a two time champion. Like Big Joe, Semtex is bigger than the beefcake and has that MMA background in his arsenal. O'Brien is not stupid and he knows that cashing in for the heavyweight title would not be easy and he would be picking a fight with a much bigger and stronger person. DOA Adrenaline Championship Brad O'Brien is quite unique in that he can fit into both the heavyweight division and the adrenaline division. He can go toe to toe with bigger guys but he can also move quick and do some high flying, so this championship would also be an option. If we are looking back in history, O'Brien could be compared to someone like Dexter who did indeed win Go 4 Glory and cashed in to win the Adrenaline championship. Maybe O'Brien would fancy his chances against AJ Boogie Benjamin who has only just won the title back after it changed hands twice within a month. Boogie and O'Brien are similar sizes and there is no doubt a match between them would give the fans their moneys worth. It has to be said that in his 13 year career, Brad has never won a heavyweight title, but he has also never won a recognised DOA title - the Adrenaline title could be a strong start. DOA Tag Team Championships This could be an interesting option given that O'Brien's Farrell Family stable mates The Wylde Kings have just lost the tag team straps. I don't know if it is just me, but has anyone else sensed in recent months there seems to be a little bit of tension between the Wylde Kings and the rest of the Family? The Kings have hardly been seen at the same time and in the same place as O'Brien and Lord Steven Farrell - indeed they were even absent from Brad's Go 4 Glory celebration which he shared only with Farrell and Sir Ryan Matthews. The tension seems to stem ironically from the Go 4 Glory event in June when the Wylde Kings abandoned Farrell and left him at the mercy of the Banker's boot. With that said, could it be an option that the King of Couture teams with Lord Steven or Sir Ryan to cash in on the tag team champions - the Dark and the Shark (Danny Darko and Dillon Slade)? There is certainly no love loss between O'Brien and Dillon Slade, which does make this quite a realistic option. DOA Women's Championship Well the rules do state ANY title shot - bit of a wild card but I think it is safe to say that Brad O'Brien knows better than to mess with the seemingly unstoppable women's champion Leia Elise! DOA Pandemonium Title The most unique of the championships in DOA and the newest of all titles. Each challenger can choose the match stipulation and these range between the weird and the wonderful - something which could be a risk to O'Brien due to his love of his image and how unpredictable this title can be. With that said though, he is quite well matched size wise to the current holder Jack E Hyde and he could see this title as a realistic target, I would not be surprised if he is giving it some serious thought and weighing up the pros and cons. The other thing that the Beefcake has to weigh up here is who he would be messing with if he was to try some of his funny business. Just like with the heavyweight title, it is hard to see him getting away with too much against Hyde due to his relationship with the cursed monster Hex - the biggest man in DOA. Hex has always had Hyde's back and the Farrell Family have learned from past experience he is not someone you can mess with and come out on top against. Food for thought. So those are the options, you can speculate what Brad will choose to do, but ultimately, only he knows the plan, and there is always a plan it seems. Photograph by Mark Ashley Films As the 'Insider' of DOA, I like to think I know about most things that are going on - the news and all the gossip. However, one thought provoking thing I did not pick up on until the 10 year anniversary show was the so called 'curse' of the Adrenaline division championship. It was not until our man with the microphone AK asked then champion Ty Hazard about the rumors of a curse on the title that I really took note. I am the kind of guy who refuses to walk under ladders and always salutes at magpies, I guess I am superstitious to an extent, so this rumor of a curse could have something in it...or not. DOA's Adrenaline division features some of the UK's hottest prospects, it can be high flying, fast paced and most of all exciting. The title history of the Adrenaline championship alone tells you all that you need to know with the list of people who have held that belt. Jody Fleisch, Ashley Dunn, Banker Marc Lloyd, Peter Nixon and Ash Draven just to name a few. When Ty Hazard won the championship from Cali Grey at Fury Road in September, he was the 13th holder of the title - at this point, the number 13 and curses could go hand in hand, but that is not the thread I am going to take here - promise. Looking back at the history of the Adrenaline championship it is hard to see where curses could come in to the picture. The title has always been stable with some good reigns during its history and some long ones. The longest serving Adrenaline champion was Dexter who defeated Kelly Sixx for the belt before losing it to CJ Carter in late 2021. It could be argued that the reason for this long reign was helped in a big way by the Covid Pandemic and various lockdown's. Dexter won the title pre pandemic and obviously there was no live wrestling for a year or so, which meant the days stacked up in Dexter's favor to give him the accolade of the longest running Adrenaline Division Champion. Another long reign was in more recent memory when the fan favorite AJ Boogie Benjamin took DOA by storm by winning the title very early on in his DOA career after it was vacated due to CJ Carter's retirement. He was a fighting champion making several top defenses of the championship in a reign that lasted nearly a year up until Beach Ball Mania in August 2023. At this point you may be reading this and stating that there is no sign of a supposed curse so where does that actually come in to it? Well it is in fact Beach Ball Mania when things took a bit of a turn. In a very unique match, AJ Boogie teamed with Karama against Cali Grey and Women's champion Leia Elise where both the Adrenaline and Women's championships were on the line - meaning either way a new champion would be crowned. This match was nothing but frustration for AJ Boogie because Elise pinned Karama which meant that Cali Grey was the new Adrenaline champion. After such a long reign, Benjamin had lost his title without even being pinned, and he had to watch Cali Grey parade around as the new champion. What happened next though caught everyone by surprise when Grey traveled to Fury Road in September to make his first defense against Ty Hazard. At this point, despite producing some top matches including against Robbie X, Hazard had not exactly grabbed the victories that would make him a favorite to win the championship. Cali Grey looked confident but could simply not keep Ty Hazard down who caused a huge upset and pinned Grey to become the champion. Within the matter of just a month, AJ Boogie, Grey and Ty had all held the Adrenaline title, such a quick turn around. The fact that Boogie lost it and had not been pinned and then Grey lost it in his first defense is where the talk of a curse came from. After the quick changes of champion, it came as no surprise that the ten year anniversary show featured a triple threat match where Ty Hazard would defend the title against Cali Grey and AJ Boogie. In his pre match interview when asked about the so called curse by AK, Ty Hazard played it down and seemed confident that he would put an end to that talk and leave the show still champion. In retrospect, that confidence could have been misplaced because sure enough AJ Boogie Benjamin won the match and became the first ever two time Adrenaline champion. This created a unique situation where both Grey and Ty had lost the title in their very first defense. Ty showed respect to AJ after the match and shook his hand but the look of shock on his face said it all - maybe the comments about a curse were playing on his mind? Cali losing it in his first defense was one thing but for it to then happen to Ty too?
So is the title cursed? The first logical questions to ask are why would it be cursed and who cursed it? I mean lets face it, DOA is no stranger to curses, poor Ben Hull was cursed years ago by the Voodoo Queen and that is why he ended up as Hex, but what reason would she have to curse a belt she had no contact with during her time in DOA? Maybe just doing it for a laugh? Cali Grey has quite a dark personality so it really would not shock me to learn that he was in to the dark arts or something. However, I doubt he would conjure up some kind of curse that would cost him the title (twice) as that would make no sense - unless he is new to it all and did it by accident? As you can see, I find no logical reason for the belt to be cursed or who would have cursed it. However, I think the key here is going to be Boogie's next title defense because if he were to lose it, I think I would be a believer that there is something really dark happening here. Even then though, that could be a psychological barrier due to these rumors, but if he wins his first defense, it is safe to say this all just happened by chance and he is now back on track, picking up where he left off before the title was taken from him without even being pinned. Still though... what if? Photographs by Mark Ashley Films It all seemed to be a bit of fun at the time, there was Dillon Slade trying to win over Lord Steven Farrell in their match at Beach Ball Mania, when he slipped to the outside and put on a shark costume. The costume was in line with the show theme and casually lay in wait under the ring until Slade slipped it on. It is pretty obvious by now that Dillon Slade is just a fun loving guy, someone who could be described as similar to an excited puppy. This was just an attempt at a bit of fun but it did not go down well with Lord Steven who labelled him an 'embarrassment'.
Since back in May, Dillon Slade has been attempting to impress Farrell and the Family in hope of being the new member. Each attempt seemed to be in vein though and something always seemed to go wrong which resulted in the Family stringing Slade along and offering second, third and fourth chances to prove himself. The victory over Farrell himself should have been the moment where Slade had finally proven himself 'worthy' but the shark costume proved to be another excuse for the Family to reject Slade. However, not one to give up, Dillon Slade had another plan up his sleeve to try and win his place in the group. He was handed a shot at the Pandemonium championship against Jack E Hyde - a title previously held by Lord Farrell. Slade saw this as a perfect opportunity to win the title and impress the Family by bringing it back to them. As with any Pandemonium championship match, as the challenger, Slade was able to choose the match stipulation. In what was one of the most bizarre match stipulations in DOA history, Dillon chose that the loser must where a shark costume for the rest of the year - the very same shark costume Slade wore at Beach Ball Mania. When explaining his reason for choosing this, Slade stated that this was his chance to embarrass someone - Jack E Hyde. Ahead of the match at Fury Road two weeks ago, Slade was beaming with confidence as he informed Steven Farrell and Brad O'Brien he was going to bring the belt back to the family. Farrell seemed disgusted and O'Brien simply told him to 'shut up'. Regardless, Slade went out for the match and equaled Hyde step by step. Things took a dramatic turn though when Jack E Hyde used the middle rope to low blow Slade and then hit a stunner before placing his feet on the ropes for leverage and scored a pinfall victory. Dillon Slade had lost and Lord Steven Farrell ensured he was there to hand Slade the shark costume and tell him he was cutting him loose as there must be better options. The normally excitable Slade looked lost and broken as he left the ring and headed backstage. As it turned out, the Family recruited Sir Ryan Matthews later that night showing they were done and dusted with Dillon Slade once and for all. Many would question what Dillon Slade's mindset would be following that big moment, but to everyone's surprise, there appeared to be a new lease of life as we later found out. At the end of Fury Road, Dillon Slade complete with shark costume was one of the wrestlers that followed Banker Marc Lloyd out to the ring to save Ben Jones. During the Banker's speech where he made several matches for the upcoming 10 year anniversary show - he announced that tag team champions The Wylde Kings would defend against Danny Darko and none other than Dillon Slade! With that news, Slade was back to his normal self and unable to contain his excitement as he celebrated by jumping on Darko's back. The tables have turned and now Dillon Slade has a huge opportunity to not only get one over on the Family who rejected him, but also to become a tag team champion. What better person to have by his side - Danny Darko, a man who has pretty much seen and done it all in DOA. Whilst he came up short in his most recent tag team match with the Wylde Kings, he did defeat Rexx Wylde in a singles match at Beach Ball Mania. The beer downing former champion now has a different kind of partner by his side though in the form of a man dressed as a shark. Dillon Slade his shown us all he is loyal, he has heart and he has guts, combine that with someone like Darko and we have a great tag team match on our hands. The Wylde Kings, now in their second reign as tag team champions cannot be under estimated though - they are simply two brutes, they have the power and they have the experience of working as a tag team. But just imagine, the beer drinker and the man in a shark costume winning the belts? That surely without any doubt would be another DOA first right there! In a change to the advertised main event of the big 10 year anniversary show in Great Yarmouth on 7th October - Brad O'Brien will take on 'The Banker' Marc Lloyd who makes his long awaited return to the ring. It was announced back in August at Beach Ball Mania that Big Joe would defend the DOA Heavyweight Championship against Brett Semtex in their third big encounter. However, Big Joe made an announcement earlier this week that he would no longer be at the show.
Big Joe was scheduled to fly out to the States last week take take part in the tournament of death, but it was postponed due to weather conditions. The rescheduled show has clashed with the DOA show and DOA management have given Joe their blessings to attend. This means his scheduled match with Semtex will no longer headline the anniversary. However, the Big Joe and Semtex match will still take place at a upcoming DOA show - we will keep you posted on when this is rescheduled for. The new main event signed of O'Brien and Lloyd is also a huge match for so many reasons. Brad O'Brien is now the go 4 glory briefcase holder and the Banker just two weeks ago reinstated himself to the active roster. There is no love loss between these two and it all stems back to the last Ipswich show when O'Brien made his return from injury and brutally assaulted The Banker with the social media championship. Marc Lloyd has clearly had enough of the Farrell family and this is his chance to even the score after nearly two years away from the ring. This is not one to be missed. Meanwhile, as some people may be aware, DOA's shows on Fite TV this month switched to Fite Plus. We would appreciate our fans signing up to a subscription with Fite to view our new and improved shows. There is currently a back log of the shows with May's Yarmagedon show broadcasting last week. More will follow as we bring our fans up to date. At Beach Ball Mania last month, Jack E Hyde was crowned the new Pandemonium champion, a championship which I think suits Hyde perfectly. Lets not forget that this is a championship that is unpredictable and unique, the same words that you could use to describe Jack E Hyde. I think it would be very fitting to look more in to this title belt and indeed Jack E Hyde ahead of Fury Road in Bury St Edmunds.
The Pandamoium title was introduced into DOA at the third annual Beach Ball Mania back in 2021, in the first show back after the initial lockdown period. The first champion was decided in a 10 man battle royal, which obviously had a beach party theme. The era of pandamonium got off to a thrilling start when it seemed that Banker Marc Lloyd had won only for Xander to come out of nowhere and throw him over the top rope to become the first champion. The new division had been born and for anyone who does not know what makes this championship so unique, let me explain. Anyone who is challenging the champion gets to choose the match stipulation, so as you can imagine, the past three years really have offered a range of match types within DOA. With challangers setting the stipulation, the DOA fans have had their eyes opened to all sorts of matches. From a highway to hell match, to a saved by the bell match, all the way to a 'call me daddy match'. So essentially, you will see matches from traditional rules all the way through to the damn well strange - and at Fury Road the loser is going to dress as a shark for the rest of the year. You did not read that wrong, I did indeed say the loser will dress as a shark, but more on that later. You only need to read the list of people who have held this championship over the past two years to see how open it is to anyone. Two former heavyweight champions Damien and Danny Darko have held it, our current Heavyweight champion Big Joe has held it, Xander, The Banker, Ali-OK, Lord Steven Farrell and most recently Hex have all etched their names in the title history, and now Jack E Hyde joins that list. Jack E Hyde did not win the title in a traditional way though and this will make him even more determind to prove himself and show everyone why he deserves to be champion. Despite being part of DOA for nearly ten years, this is his first singles title (he has held the tag team gold). This all came about after his best friend and long time tag team partner Hex won the belt but then was struck down with a devastating knee injury. Last month at Beach Ball Mania, Hex came to the ring and informed the audience that he was out injured and therefore was unable to defend the championship. He called out Forgotten partner Jack E Hyde and mentioned how they were scheduled for an over the top rope match. Hex proceeded to step over the top rope so that Jack E Hyde was crowned the new champion. In a touching moment, the Yarmouth faithful all chanted "you deserve it", and just like that the new era of Pandamoium was upon us all. This was a big moment for Hyde and maybe made all the years of turmoil he has been through worth it. There has never been a dull moment when he has been around in DOA and the fans never know what to expect. This man changes his appearance more than most normal people change their socks - he seems to have a different mask for every day of the week, some arty and some damn well freaky and scary, I guess it just depends on how he is feeling that day. It is no secret that Hyde has had battles with mental health and this even resulted in Director of Authority Banker sending him for help last year. Regardless, the fans love him, they can somehow relate to his struggles but at the same time there is still an air of mystery as to what he is all about. I have no doubt there is a lot more to this man for us all to find out. There is also something endearing about his friendship and loyalty to Hex - a man who was once simply known as Ben Hull until he was cursed by a Voodoo Queen and became the monster we now all know as Hex. The pair were once part of the Purge along with Damien and helped him become the champion then also helped that very Voodoo Queen Amara become the womens champion. However, amongst all of the success, the pair seemed to get forgotten by Damien and his queen, so Hyde and Hex broke away and appropriatley became known as the Forgotten. Mind, the Purge did not let that go and Hyde went to hell and back when he was kidnapped and paraded around in a straight jacket, something many would say was the best place for him at times. The Forgotten went on to achieve tag team success when they defeated The Rebellion to become the DOA tag team champions, they also hold the record of being DOA's longest serving tag team. The foundations are as solid as ever it seems and they have an unbreakable bond, so I see them being 'forgotten' for many more years. In 2021 they joined forces with Rexx Wylde to form a group known as 'No Remorse' - three long time members of DOA who set out to treat people the way they had been treated. It started to crumble though when The Banker made them see the error of their ways and sent Jack for treatment. Rexx went in a different direction though and went on to achieve tag team success with Sullivan King as the Wylde Kings whilst Hex and Hyde once again became Forgotten. Well that is until now, because with Hex out injured it is all eyes on Jack E Hyde as he gets set to make his first title defense at Fury Road against Dillon Slade. Despite scoring a pinfall over Farrell Family leader Lord Steven Farrell last month, it seems Slade still has not been accepted into the Family, something he has been trying to do since back in May. He thinks that winning the title might just be enough because this is the same title Lord Steven lost to Hex in comical fashion last time out at Bury St Edmunds. He will be doing his best to get a second victory in a row but Jack E Hyde can never be under estimated and as I have stated, he is also on a mission - a mission to prove he is a worthy champion. Slade has described him on social media as a 'gimp' this week and Hyde has responded with a very creepy video with no words - after all, words don't win matches, actions do. There is so much more than just a championship on the line in this match. Oh what about the shark costume? Well, Dillon Slade had the option to choose any match stipulation and he chose that the loser must wear a shark costume for the rest of 2023 (I did say this pandemonium title business was random). This is the same costume that Slade wore in his match with Farrell at Beach Ball Mania which led to him later being branded an 'embarrassment', so it seems Slade wants to be the one embarrassing Jack E Hyde. Lets be honest though, with some of the stuff Hyde has worn in the past, would dressing as a shark really bother him? This is going to be interesting for sure. In a day and age when things seem pretty short lived, its crazy to think that in just over one month, DOA will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary. As always, there is bound to be plenty of action and top matches, a show full of twists and turns, but not everything is under wraps. The Banker wasted no time in letting everyone know the main event he had chosen for this huge milestone show at the Drill House in Great Yarmouth. The dust had not even settled when he stood up from the announce table at Beach Ball Mania and interrupted Big Joe's title celebrations to inform everyone that Big Joe vs Brett Semtex 3 would take place at the anniversary show. Talk about a way to grab people's attention! we should not expect anything less from the banker, whom no doubt has grabbed the nations attention throughout this year with the interest rates.
This is a match for the ages, a battle between two true heavyweights for the biggest prize of all - the DOA Heavyweight championship. Despite the fact these two have wrestled twice already in DOA, lets not over look the significance of what a huge match up this really is. It has the ingredients to be a true classic, it has history, it has two men who know each other very well, and it will have a hot Yarmouth crowd who will be quite torn over who they want to see walk out as the champion. Oh, and lets not forget it has two warriors who whilst they are different, are both hard hitting and will be doing all they can to walk away with the gold. It is actually really difficult to analyse this one and even predict who will grab the victory. Regardless, I see this being a close one. Firstly, lets look at Big Joe - it was only a matter of time before he claimed the top prize in DOA - it has been brewing for some time. This is a man who is known across the country as a true hardcore icon, a king of the death match, in fact it is not just the UK, his no nonsense approach has took him to several countries. Whilst he might be known for his death match antics, he can wrestle in the traditional sense and has demonstrated this time and time again. When he went into the Beach Ball Mania title match with Semtex, he was more focused than any of us have ever seen, and he had his eyes firmly on the prize. Joe was on top form and had Semtex well scouted for this one, he had clearly studied their encounter from 2022 when he fell short against Semtex on Semtex's DOA debut. Thinking about it now, that must have been a difficult one for Joe because he did not fully know what to expect from Semtex, none of us did and that will have made it quite hard to prepare. It is perhaps that very loss which spurred Joe on even more in the big Beach Ball Mania rematch, a determination to even the score and finally take the top prize in DOA for the first time. Whatever it was, it worked. So going into this third match, what will Big Joe's mind set be? We all know that over confidence can be dangerous and he certainly knows from past experience now that Brett Semtex can never be under estimated or counted out. Surely as the current champion, most people will see Big Joe as the favorite going into this match, but that is where the water gets all a bit murky, because it can be argued that just as many people will see Semtex as the favorite to win back the championship. Brett Semtex is a machine. This is a man who walked in to DOA and defeated Big Joe on his debut and then in the same night beat big Charlie Winston to become the new heavyweight champion. We are talking about victories over two of the biggest men in DOA history on the same night. How many people can claim they made such an impact on their DOA debut? Answers on a postcard for that one because I cannot think of any. For over a year he went on to defeat anyone he came up against and ensured that he held on to the DOA title, he looked unstoppable. All streaks eventually come to an end though as Semtex found out with a harsh reality check when Joe pinned him for the three count. After such a big loss and such a good run as the champion, no one in DOA history has ever went on to respond by taking the title back, or even holding the biggest prize more than once. Semtex now has a chance to make history by responding instantly by winning the title back and becoming the first two time heavyweight champion - what a fitting occasion it would be to do that as well. Lets be honest here, if anyone could do that, it would be Brett Semtex based on his form over the past year and half. However, a big loss can sometimes impact your mentality and could that be a factor here? could that loss to Joe be playing on Brett's mind and impact his confidence. One other thing to consider. At September's show in Bury St Edmunds, Semtex comes up against a true veteran in the form of Mike Bird, a man who takes no prisoners in the ring. That is a really tough match that Brett will need to get through before facing Joe at the anniversary. Meanwhile, Joe will be fresh for that match so does that make it easier or harder? The answer to the above question is all down to what happens in the Semtex vs Bird match. If Brett can score a huge victory over Mike Bird, his confidence will be sky high going into the anniversary and that might give him a slight edge regardless of how fresh Big Joe is. On the other hand though, Big Joe has worked for years to get the biggest prize of all and would never let that go without the fight of his life. In conclusion, its too difficult to call this one and all eyes will be on how Semtex responds to the loss in the match with Mike Bird in a couple of weeks. Just to add the cherry on the top of this match, The Banker announced that DOA legend Peter Nixon would be the special guest referee. This will not tip the balance because it is safe to say that Nixon will call this right down the middle - he is that kind of guy and that's the reason the DOA faithful adore him. It is fitting that he will be involved in this match though isn't it? Nixon is no stranger to championships, after all, he was the first person to have held the DOA Heavyweight title, Adrenaline title, and tag team titles. The match is in safe hands. So, who do you think is going to win this huge match? The jury is out. ![]() Blink of the eye and you could have missed it during the show in Ipswich last month. The Banker Marc Lloyd was getting ready to deliver his big boot to the face of Lord Steven Farrell when he was suddenly hit over the head with a championship belt. Standing there with a grin on his face, a Farrell Family vest, and an unknown silver championship belt was none other than Brad O'Brien. It was unexpected and it led to many people questioning just where he had been for the past four months, and what was the mysterious belt he was holding. Well to get to the answers here, we need to rewind a bit back to 2022 when Sunset Skip was doing an interview backstage ahead of a DOA show. In another attack which was quick and effective, he was jumped by someone wearing a hoody and thrown face first into a wall, knocking him clean out. The attack appeared to be a little personal when the attacker stole Skips prized Pan Arabian Championship belt. Lets not forget, this is a title belt he has reportedly won near on 100 times or so, and it has been defended worldwide for decades, its prestige is demonstrated with the fact it has been won in the past by the likes of the Iron Sheik and The Brooklyn Brawler. I personally cant help but feel that when that belt was taken, a small part of Sunset Skip was taken. It did not take long though for it to be revealed that it was actually Brad O'Brien who had carried out the attack and stolen the title - the King of Couture had stooped that low. To rub salt in to the wounds of Skip, O'Brien actually cracked him over the head with the belt to allow Lord Steven Farrell to pin him and score victory for the Farrell Family in a 6 man tag team match at the 9 year anniversary show in October. Lets face it, outside of the walls of wrestling, O'Brien probably would have spent a night in a Police cell after such actions, but instead he was able to parade around DOA as the self proclaimed Pan Arabian Champion. Things came to a head in March 2023 as Sunset Skip finally had the chance to level the score when he went one on one with O'Brien at DOA In Their House in Norwich. The belt was on the line and it seemed a sure bet that Skip would take back what was his, but the unthinkable happened, and O'Brien won the match, forcing Skip to shake his hand and recognise him as the official Pan Arabian Champion. That night was maybe as tough as they come for Sunset Skip, other than probably his 'territory' days when he went coast to coast across America. As for O'Brien, I stated it was unthinkable for him to win, but that is probably not true. This is a guy who has been involved in wrestling since he was a teenager, he has grown up in the business and probably learned nearly every trick of the trade. He is not someone you can ever under estimate, he can be unpredictable and that probably makes him quite dangerous. Going back years, who would have thought that the young looking kid would one day be known as the Beefcake of British Wrestling? On that note, there has been some talk recently that he is a meat feast kind of guy, so it would come of little surprise to me if he one day ends up using that in his growing list of nicknames. Anyway, back to the point, O'Brien won the belt but then vanished for 4 months with little mention of him in DOA. The Farrell Family started to fall in to a bit of turmoil without him and the memories of the Pan Arabian Championship started to fade slightly. The truth is, not long after that victory, Brad O'Brien broke his foot and was therefore ruled out of wrestling and confined to a set of crutches. It therefore came as a surprise to suddenly see him appear out of nowhere at Ipswich and crack the Banker over the head with the belt. It goes without saying just why he attacked the Banker - he was defending the leader of the Farrell Family and its obvious that O'Brien is the golden boy of the family in Lord Steven's eyes, however, what was not clear was the silver championship he was holding, it did not look familiar. The answer was offered later in that show when O'Brien spoke to the cameras backstage and revealed all. He suggested that the Pan Arabian Championship was dated and he needed something more 'him' more relevant to the here and now, which is why the championship had been renamed the Social Media Championship. Some work had been carried out on the belt and it has had a total make over - just what will Sunset Skip think about that, and all those past holders for that matter - I bet O'Brien has ruffled a few feathers with this move. With that said though, what started as theft, did end with him officially winning the belt. I do still think though a night down in the cells at Ipswich nick would have done a lot of good for O'Brien - maybe he would have changed his ways. So your wife and my wife's favorite wrestler is back, but what is next for him and the Social Media Championship? Will Skip be out to take back what was his and rename it again?, or has he finally accepted it is gone forever? One thing is for sure, things are getting interesting and if I was O'Brien I would be looking over my shoulder because he really is upsetting a lot of people. Interesting to note though, Marc Lloyd still has not addressed what happened in Ipswich, but I am pretty sure our Director of Authority will have something in the works - that you can bank on, be alert Beefcake. ![]() Tickets are now on sale for DOA's return to the New Bury Community Centre in Bury St Edmunds for Fury Road. 2023 has been a year of stacked action packed shows from DOA and this will be no different with so much going down. The first match announced could be a main event in it's self as the Adrenaline Cup reaches its climax. Fan favorite Ben Jones will go one on one with Sir Ryan Matthews, a man who really has been making his mark since his debut back in March. Both Jones and Matthews have worked hard to get to the final, competing in tough matches along the way. In the first round, Jones had to battle it out with his fellow 'Lad' Alex Ecco, before over coming Harrison Payne in a semi final match. This was a big test for Jones, because lets not forget, he was scheduled to wrestle Truman Roswell, who has mysteriously gone AWOL. This was all very last minute with little time to prepare for the match but Jones pulled through and ensured he booked his place in the final. Sir Ryan Matthews was himself a late entrant in to the cup where he found himself going up against Spike Valentine back in March at the WAW performance centre. Using some underhanded tactics, Sir Ryan won the match and then went on to overcome Richie Gopaul in the semi finals. Some saw this as major upset because just a few weeks prior, Richie scored a pinfall over Matthews in a tag team match featuring the semi finalists. However, Sir Ryan has bounced back and is determined to make his mark in DOA by winning this prestigious cup. To do so though, he needs to get past Ben Jones - someone who was on the winning side in the two occasions these two men have met in tag team action in DOA. In the coming weeks, more matches will be announced for this show, but we can promise you it will be action packed. We are still yet to hear from the Director of Authority regarding the incident in Ipswich when he was brutally attacked by Brad O'Brien, Is Dillon Slade now a member of the Farrell Family? How will Rex Whyld respond to the loss against Danny Darko last week? Can Leia Elise be stopped as Womans Champion? and will we hear from the new Adranline Division Champion Cali Grey? Make sure you get your tickets by visiting the 'tickets' section of this website and come and see what all of the fuss is about on September 16th. |
