Yarmageddon XX came to another packed Drill House in Great Yarmouth where the fans were left frustrated as the Farrell Family came out on top. Leia Elise defended the Women's championship in the main event against Karama, and Brad O'Brien defended the Heavyweight Championship against Brett Semtex. Much to the fans displeasure, both matches ended in controversial circumstances, leading both to Elise and O'Brien retaining their respective title's.
In the big main event, Karama was filled with confidence that she could be the person to finally take the title from the dominant Elise. Last time out in Yarmouth, she had defeated Elise in a non title match to earn a shot at the gold. This had clearly got into Elise's head because whilst she did dominate spells of the match, she just could not keep Karama down. Karama really was looking the favorite to take another victory over Elise and knock her off the top of the womans division.
This looked even more certain when she locked Elise in a cross face submission hold and dragged her to the centre of the ring. The woman's champion was on the verge of tapping out when Lord Steven Farrell ran out and dragged Karama off her. On the outside, Karama knocked Lord Farrell down with a forearm but the damage had been done in terms of distraction. After a little bit more back and fourth, Elise caught out Karama with a spear and pinned her for the three. She celebrated with Lord Steven and Brad O'Brien at the end as the angry crowd jeered them.
Earlier in the night, Brad O'Brien opened up the show by defending his heavyweight title against Brett Semtex, a man who was keen to take back the belt he lost last year after a long reign. This was a great contrast of styles but again, it ended in controversial fashion. Brad O'Brien faked an ankle injury to get the upper hand but Semtex later hit back and locked the King of Couture in an ankle lock. Lord Steven Farrell who was ringside with O'Brien got up on the apron and started to taunt Semtex which led to him releasing the hold. Farrell took a forearm to the face but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make as it then allowed O'Brien to roll Semtex up for the three and score another victory, this time over a former DOA Champion. Brett Semtex was furious and will be looking for another shot at the belt no doubt.
Hot Stuff later confronted O'Brien backstage and made a remark about not being able to win without help. It appeared to hit O'Brien hard and give him food for thought. Lord Steven himself was then involved in further controversy when he came out for his open challenge match. Farrell ranted at the fans about respect and stated if they did not show him the respect he deserved they would not see him wrestle tonight. This resulted in a big cheer and Farrell ended up walking out and refusing to wrestle due to the fans antics.
The Cult of Hyde are another team who have been turning heads and the monster Moldark claimed another big DOA scalp with victory over former champion Big Joe. The masked monster had already claimed a shock victory over Hex previously and this time he stood toe to toe with Big Joe. This was a real brawl which spilled to the outside at one point, but despite the Yarmouth faithfull being fully behind home town hero Big Joe, it was not enough to put Moldark down who scored victory after a big senton. Jack E Hyde was there cheering him on and after the match told the NLP and Puppet Poole they must also deliver in their 6 man tag team match.
The NLP and Puppet Poole went up against the make shift team of the legendary Hot Stuff, Tag Team Champion Dillon Slade and Spike Valentine. An entertaining match followed but the Cult were given an advantage when Jack E Hyde got involved from the outside and tied Hot Stuff to the ring post before choking him out. The NLP used their brute strength and domination and took out Dillon Slade to get another victory for the Cult of Hyde. After pinning Slade, they held up his tag team belt and made it clear they were coming for his and Danny Darko's tag team championships at the next show in Bury St Edmunds.
After the match, Director of Authority Alec Burnitt addressed Jack E Hyde's actions during the match. Burnitt ended up signing a match for Beach Ball Mania in July between Jack E Hyde and Hot Stuff, and to make it fair, he banned the Cult from ringside. How will Hyde cope going one on one with the legend without any assistance?
After winning the Pandemonium title in Peterborough last month, Hex made his first defence of the title against Vinnie Kray. Kray confronted Hex before the match stating that the stipulation for the match was that the chokeslam was banned, something that seemed to give Kray more confidence but did not phase Hex. However, in the match, Hex did not need the chokeslam as he pulled out a fishermans suplex to beat Kray. For good measure, whilst celebrating in his home town after the match, Hex lifted up Kray and downed him with a chokeslam.
The Banker Marc Lloyd is a man who has been trying to get back on top since his in ring return last year. He had a great opportunity to get some gold when he faced Furio who was defending the Adrenaline Division Championship. Furio continued his good run though as he caught out Lloyd with the trademark mist to the face when he had gone to the top for his swanton. Furio's good run continues as he retained the title but the Banker will need to find a way to bounce back.
