DOA headed to Ipswich once again to kick off its 2024 calendar of events with 'Reloaded'. The big main event saw The Banker Marc Lloyd take on Ben Jones, with Lloyd keen to settle a score that dated back to 2023. The last time DOA was in Ipswich, Jones and Lloyd represented their home town in a tag team match, but it did not go to plan as Jones turned his back not only on the the Banker, but also on his hometown of Ipswich. This resulted in Lloyd suffering a defeat against the Farrell Family. After the match Ben Jones blamed Lloyd's stint as Director of Authority for the attack, where he claimed that Lloyd had over looked him.
Whilst Marc Lloyd went in to the match with revenge on his mind, Ben Jones entered with something to prove, a point to make, to show that he can make it on his own as a singles wrestler. The fans were heavily behind the Banker and both men battled it out with opportunity to take the victory. However, Lloyd was the one who managed to hit his signature bankers boot and pin Jones for the three count. It was a well needed victory for Lloyd who had lost his last two matches in DOA. The fans celebrated with the home town hero as a promising 2024 got underway for the Banker. Ben Jones on the other hand will no doubt be looking at ways to bounce back from this big defeat.
2023 ended in controversial circumstances when the DOA Heavyweight Championship changed hands twice in Great Yarmouth. Hex beat Sullivan King to win the belt but was then jumped by two new comers under instruction from Jack E Hyde. This gave Brad O'Brien the perfect opportunity to cash in his go 4 glory briefcase, which he did, and he pinned Hex to win the title. Reloaded kicked off with Franklin coming out but then Lord Steven Farrell interrupted. After running down Ipswich, Lord Steven stated that the new champion would not be defending his title tonight as Ipswich was not worthy but he would defend his Social Media championship against Franklin. Brad O'Brien made his grand entrance with both belts and battled it out with Franklin.
Franklin looked the more dominant of the two but the numbers game soon started to put the odds in O'Brien's favor as Lord Steven Farrell got involved several times from ringside. It looked like Franklin was about to win and take the Social Media title after hitting his side effect, however Lord Steven placed O'Brien's foot on the ropes. Franklin allowed himself to be distracted by Farrell and this cost him as O'Brien was able to down him with his trademark TKO and win the match.
As the Heavyweight champion celebrated with Farrell, Hex made his way out and he did not look happy. He was scheduled to face Farrell in a singles match and despite the Lord's protests of the match getting underway so quickly, the bell rang. Hex was dominant and Farrell did not get a look in until O'Brien caused a vital distraction on the outside. It was similar to what had just happened in the opening match as the Family members used every dirty tactic possible. Hex hit a side walk slam but before the three count, Brad pulled referee Cody out of the ring. Cody sent O'Brien away but this distraction had allowed Farrell to get his brass knuckles and was looking to nail Hex. Franklin ran back out though and took the knuckles, directing Lord Steven straight in to a chokeslam from Hex who then pinned him for the three. Hex is on a mission and still has scores to settle with not only Brad O'Brien but Jack E Hyde and his so called cult.
Jack E Hyde was actually in action at Reloaded but blink and you could have missed it. He took on naive new comer Danny Fear. Danny was interviewed by AK before the match and spoke of his excitement and seemed oblivious to how dangerous and unstable Hyde could be. He came out for the match with a chance to win Hyde's pandemonium title, and the stipulation he chose was a submissions match. Jack E Hyde refused to shake hands and made light work of the new comer when he hit a stunner and then locked in the psycho clutch. The match was stopped when Danny Fear passed out, meaning Jack E Hyde was the winner.
In a strange twist, Jack E Hyde took the microphone after the match and told Danny Fear he respected the fact he did not tap out and kept fighting until he was out cold. He then handed him a mask and asked him to follow him in his cult. Fear took the mask from Hyde and they left together. Is this another member of Hyde's cult which has been heavily expanding in recent months?
Sullivan King and Rexx Wylde were scheduled for another shot at Danny Darko and Dillon Slade - the DOA Tag Team Champions. However, Sullivan King did not show up to the event, seemingly turning his back on Wylde and the Farrell family after what happened in December at the Great Yarmouth show. Rexx made his way out and stated that due to the 'pull' the Family had, he had secured himself another championship partner for the night, and Adranaline Champion Furio made his way out. It was a bit of a miss match and Darko and Slade were not phased as they looked to keep their impressive tag team title run going. At one point, Wylde held Slade for Furio to hit the superkick. However, Slade managed to move and Furio nailed Wylde. Wylde was furious and started to shove Furio whilst shouting at him, but the Adrenaline champion was having none of it and responded by spitting blood in Wylde's face before walking out. This allowed Dillon Slade to nail Rexx with a cutter and win the match for the tag team champions.
It was not a good evening for the Adrenaline cup holder Sir Ryan Matthews who saw his momentum drop a bit more. He showed up expecting a shot at Furio's Adrenaline title, but the match was changed at short notice and he went up against Spike. Last March, it was a role reversal as Spike entered the Adrenaline cup and prepared for a match with Ali OK, only for Matthews to step in and defeat Spike. This time it was Spike catching Matthews by surprise as he reversed Sir Ryan's sharpshooter into a pinfall. Sir Ryan Matthews was not happy and will now be looking to get back his momentum.
